Protest Prisoners in Residential Neighborhoods

Please help protect Rocky Hill residents by protesting the state and iCare’s decision to locate a private skilled nursing facility for convicted felons and the mentally ill in a densely populated neighborhood. The proposed site is less than two miles from schools and parks. While the Rocky Hill private prison will be the first of its kind in CT, it may not be the last.  Michael Lawlor, a member of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s budget office stated “in 20 years, the system could require 500 nursing home beds”. Given the current projection, the state will need to open at least one additional facility. Please help set a precedent that safety is the highest priority.1-1-2013 2-13-12 PM
